Impact Plate Weighers (Flow Meters for Solid Raw Materials)
Impact plate weighing systems (or impact plate flow meters) are industrial weighing devices that continuously measure the instantaneous flow rate and total quantity of bulk materials in powder or granular form during free fall. Unlike conveyor belt weighers, they are ideally suited for measuring vertically flowing materials in closed systems.
Operating Principle:
The material falls freely from top to bottom due to gravity and strikes a specially inclined impact plate inside the weighing system. The resulting horizontal force is measured by load cells located beneath the plate. The force data measured by the sensors is multiplied by the velocity and weight of the material (Q = F × v) to calculate the instantaneous mass flow rate (tons/hour).
Key Advantages:
• Easy Maintenance: Since no moving mechanical belt and roller systems are required, maintenance is extremely simple and the risk of failure is low.
• Prevents material build-up: Thanks to the special plate design, material adhesion to the plate is minimized, thus maintaining measurement accuracy.
• Compact design: Easy integration into existing pipelines (e.g., at elevator outlets or bunker floors). • High accuracy: Measurement with high accuracy of ±1% to ±2%, depending on the material flow.
Applications:
Widely used in industries where continuous material flow and dosing are critical
• Cement plants
• Mining and quarrying
• Construction chemicals manufacturing plants
• Grain, flour, and animal feed industries
• Fertilizer plants
